People in Wichita are sooooo stupid.

In case you don't know Wichita is known as the Air Capital of the World. But jobs have been leaving left and right from Wichita in the Aircraft industry for either other countries or other parts of America. This is happening for numerous reasons, but one reason is outragous Union demands. Machinists (line workers) are getting paid by Hawker Beechcraft 27-30 dollars on average. That is a ridiculously high amount for what they do. This amount has been inflated by Unions and now they are coming back to bite them square in the butt.

Anyways the current situation is this, Hawker Beechcraft (HBC) has threatened to move their ENTIRE Wichita Operation to Southern Louisiana. This puts 6,000 Wichita Jobs in Jeopardy, this does not count the estimated 7 other jobs per aircraft employee that will be affected if HBC leaves Wichita. In response to HBC's plans to move to Louisiana the state of KS and the city of Wichita have offered an incentive package to HBC in order to stay. Hawker has agreed, that if the incentive package will be approved by the state and the city, that they will try to stay in KS. However, they basically demanded that the Machinists Union sign on a new contract that makes the machinists take a 10% pay cut for seven years. The union voted today to reject the contract offer from HBC meaning that, if HBC wanted too, they could leave Wichita next fall.

Now, the people who voted against the contract are saying that HBC is just bluffing with the Union, the State of KS, and the City of Wichita and they may be right. It might be that HBC just wants to try to get the union workers to agree to as little of money as possible so that HBC can rake in bigger profits. It is a rather big risk that the union workers are doing by calling HBC's bluff, but what happens if they are not bluffing? Then they lose their jobs, their mortgages go south, and the City of Wichita becomes the next Detroit, albeit on a much smaller scale. The machinists are blaming it on corporate greed, however I think the Union workers are being greedy. Their salaries are, in my opinion, way to high for what they do. I will admit, it takes a certain amount of skill to install avionics in an airplane, it is not a skill that you have to go to college to do. HBC can easily find more workers in LA to do it. Unions have inflated their salaries to the point where companies can't take it any more. Either they will have to take pay cuts and tighten the belt, or they might find themselves without a job.

So in conclusion, it is a stale mate right now. Is HBC bluffing or will they literally pack up and move their ENTIRE operation to LA? This is one of the reasons the Unions think HBC is bluffing, because it will take a lot of capital to move the company to LA. However, LA is offering incentives for HBC to move their. Or will the Union sign on to a lower pay cut and keep HBC in Wichita? I certainly hope for the latter because Wichita needs a healthy and wealthy Aircraft Industry.

The only bad thing about parties in my area is everyone is smoking. I am a runner and I can't stand breathing in second hand smoke all night long. IDC about the drinking but the smoking will clear me out of a room faster than a fire.

I'm with you on the smoking, can't stand it. Personally though, if there is binge drinking I'm not around either. A casual drink OK, but binge drinking, no way.

I think nearly every case I've seen that involved binge drinking on either Judge Judy or The People's Court had some fight breaking out over silly comments by the opposing parties. So yes, no good comes out of binge drinking.
