As we were just talking about it in the Jan 17-19 storm thread, I thought it would be a nice idea to start a game for guessing storms on radars. We can do something where each person posts a radar image of a storm and hides the date, then gives one day for guessing.
Rules for the game: Each evening, a few people can post a picture of a random storm, and hide the date so others will not know when it is from. Then there will be a day left to guess, and the answers will be posted the evening afterwards. Scoring System: A point will be given for each person that guesses correctly. In some cases, 2 points will be given for the first person to guess each picture correctly, however the 2 points will not be given for a correct guess on a picture in the following cases: 1. If there are 2 or less guesses for a specific picture. 2. If it is so obvious that everyone immediately knows what it is. 3. If the day is inactive, meaning there are not enough radar images posted. Posting Pictures: When posting pictures, each person should post at least one picture per day, but if there are not many others that are posting pictures, then multiple pictures can be posted. Revealing the answers: The answers for each radar should be revealed the late afternoon or evening afterwards, between 5 and 11 PM. The total score will also be posted each evening. And the last rule, you can't guess the same picture more than once, or you will be disqualified for the day. Great idea there NYC!
I think you or someone should post the first picture of a radar from a storm and then everyone else guesses and the one that gets it right gets to post the next one. IMO this is how it would work the best. -------------------- -James

Thanks for the suggestions so far. ArmonkStorm's idea of the point for whoever guesses it correctly is a great idea IMO, though having just one radar to guess from would be too little, maybe we can have a few people post their radar image (around 3-5 people per day?) and have people guess it for the rest of the day.

I was going to.. but go ahead! You can both start, actually. I will also post a radar image, so that's already 3 pictures to guess for tomorrow. I thought that we could post our pictures today and give the points tomorrow evening, a day after having posted the pictures. And for your other question, I think you should post one picture per day, but if there are not a few others that are posting pictures, then you can put multiple pictures. I updated the rules in the first post of this thread, putting in there what we just talked about. I will also post my radar image soon.

Are there going to be multiple winners or the first one to guess it right?

Are you going to keep score? Yes, I'll keep score, though tomorrow I might not be able to do so, so if anyone wants to keep score for tomorrow that would be nice. I will keep the score though starting Monday. Are there going to be multiple winners or the first one to guess it right? For the first one to guess each picture right, two points will be given, unless that radar is so obvious that everyone immediately knows what it is (which then would be unfair to others). -------------------- Visit my weather website for the NYC area
