For some reason, NYC always seems to get shafted from strong/severe storms, especially today, when a seemingly endless parade of severe storms was barely 20-30 miles north of NYC, and not even one of these storms reached NYC. Not only severe storms though, but even heavy thunderstorms have constantly missed NYC, most notably on July 10 when a huge line of heavy rain completely fell apart before it reached NYC.

I opened a poll to see when people think a severe thunderstorm will affect the immediate NYC area this year. This severe weather drought has to end sometime, the question is when.

I guess today answers the question... the Anti-Storm Bubble fell apart for most of NYC on July 23rd. It's not every day (or every year) that NYC gets a tornado warning. Other parts of the NYC metro though, even parts of NYC itself, still haven't gotten a severe storm.
