Until I actually hear him say he is retiring and Week 1 comes and goes with him still on the sidelines, then I'll believe that he has officially retired.

Retirement #1

Retirement #2

That's twice that he said straight out that he's retiring. One time too many. Even if he confirms it now and is not on the field by week one I still don't know if I'll believe him.

QUOTE
Rodney Harrison blasts Favre for selfishness, craving attention

By Chris Chase

Former NFL All-Pro Rodney Harrison(notes) ripped
Brett Favre on Wednesday morning for stringing along his Minnesota Vikings teammates and acting selfishly as he decides whether to play his 20th season in the NFL.

Speaking on the Dan Patrick Show, the current NBC studio analyst implied Favre had no class and that he teases everyone with retirement flip-flops because he craves the attention of the media.

"You get to a point at 40 years old that you know exactly what you want to do if you want to play football or not. And that's why I've been critical of this guy. Because it's so unfair to your teammates, it's unfair to your coaches, it's unfair to the city, the organization that you keep leaving people hung out to dry like that.

I've never understood Brett Favre(notes). I just think he loves the media attention. At 40 years old, you
know if you want to grind through an 18-week season.

If I was a teammate of his, I'd probably be a little ticked off he's not in training camp."

Harrison went on to say that "guys who really have class" like Tom Brady(notes) and Peyton Manning
(notes) would
never be in such a position because they care about their teammates and organization and don't make things about themselves. The former Patriots star would know a thing or two about having no class; he was regarded as the dirtiest player in the league during his career and racked up more than $200,000 in fines.

[Photos: See Favre working out with Mississippi high school players]

If Favre does return to the NFL before the start of the regular season, his first game would be broadcast on Harrison's network, NBC.

See I hate this guy. Its just a gimmick so he can be in the spotlight. I hope if he does play his first game out he gets crushed and is out for the season.

Favre didn't start the rumor dude.

As far as Favre leaving the Packers I think the Packers half wanted Aaron Rodgers to take over anyway. His time had come (Rodgers that is)

As far as Favre going to a Packer rival, I think rivalries are sort of overrated amongst the players. Plenty of them went from the Yankees to the Red Sox and the Red Sox to the Yankees. Its the fans that care more about the rivalry.

I don't mind what Favre is doing. He's just being Brett Favre. He did it last year and he had one of the best years of his career.

I agree with alot of the things said on both sides but at the same time no one has really brought to attention who Favre is, he has been a really good QB and he has been around for a long time so people are going to bring things like this up and make a big deal out of them. And the reason I quoted Papa Bear to just leave something like this or any sport or carrer that you have dedicated your life to is really hard for some people and they have trouble dealing with it and any pro in sports is a warrior and they have the warriors spirit so even sometimes when they should quit their mindset says no. It happens all the time in MMA and that is still a young sport.

In my opinion though if he does come back I hope he gets a ring, and then leaves he is on the fringe of making the last time he played a laughing stock or a big joke. He is good and has a team to support him but he should hang it up a 20 years and be done.

What I'm wondering in this whole mess is why would Shancoe come out and say he got a text that Farve was retiring if it wasn't true? I think Brett decided to retire, but once"Shanc" told everybody, of course now he has to continue the saga of the past four years. Now nobody's going to remember much about his career besides for this whole thing. Poor guy.

Doubtful, the guy played in 283 straight games and has set almost every passing record in the books.

Only people who aren't that familiar with Brett Favre will remember him for his indecision and not for the great player that he is.

I didn't mean to make such a general statement, but this will definitely be one of the first things that pop into mind when you here his name.
