I am trying to teach my daughters about weather patterns - So if the weather man states we have NE winds blowing - does this mean the wind is coming from the NE or blowing to the NE???

thank for clearing this up.

The direction refers to the direction where the wind is coming from, so a Northeast wind is coming out of the northeast, going to the southwest.

This problem is aggravated by some weather instruments or web displays which would show the wind as an arrow pointing to "NE" from inside a circle, which is actually the opposite of what is happening. tongue.gif
