12z EURO shows a fairly significant winter storm from the Southern Plains into the SE US next weekend.
If it verifies ( yes, i do realize it is a good ways out) we could be looking at the last significant winter storm for these areas this winter.. as forecasts are for NAO to be going positive... -------------------- Severe weather season 2013

The NAO will not stay positive for very long. Euro long range already shows Greenland block again. |

Nice, I think we are bound to be approaching the average days for snow cover around here We've never had snowfall like the last storm though,as long as i've been living here.We live about 20-30 mi.from the Bama line and they got a foot. But it was dictated from various sources there was a band 20-30 mi. wide about 12-18 hrs away that would get slammed,we just missed it -------------------- 1"

On what do you base that that statement on? Web URL links to support your statement? EURO shows -NAO during this period.

Looks N to me -NAO means negative. EDIT: 18z GFS also goes negative with the NAO after the 18th. This post has been edited by Weatherlover: Jan 14 2011, 10:53 PM

On what do you base that that statement on? Web URL links to support your statement? NAO starts to look ok the 18-19th.This should last until the the end of the month, looks bad around the 30th,but still - even.We got a couple weeks to play with -------------------- 1"

From Van Denton's FB fan page...
QUOTE Looking way down the road...something to watch. 2 long range models that give us ideas more than a week out, the GFS and European models have shown a potential winter storm for next weekend. Yesterday the GFS (but not today) and today the EURO....suggesting a storm along the SE coast of NC that could bring snow to NC on Sat night/Sunday Jan. 22/23. We will keep an eye on this.
-------------------- So far this Winter (2010-11)...
Snow: 6.1" Sleet: 0.25" Ice: 0.13" Coldest temp: 7.5F |

0z GFS has our storm back...placement & track is a little different but that doesn't matter too much right now, just as long as the models keep showing a storm. There will be plenty of time over the next 10 days to worry about the track.
