Tiffany Getz on Libyan oil wells Options

Tiffany Getz posted a top-level Accuweather blog entry on possible pollution danger if Khaddafi should set oil wells on fire.

While that would not be good for the atmosphere, it is easy to be alarmist. Remember when Saddam set fire to 700 Kuwaiti oil wells? It looked like a scene from heck and I believed the worries at the time that this could cause very disruptive soot deposits on the snow fields in the Himalaya. In the end the fires were put out quite quickly and I've never read a follow-up report to indicate long-lasting climate effects.
