The crater floor of Pu'u'O'o collapsed yesterday as lava withdrew from that area. I just missed this event as I had looked at the webcam less than an hour before!
Hopefully this will shift the eruption away from threatening more Kalapana homes... A great write-up here...

Videos and official updates here:

Also, just found a video of the Pu'u'O'o collapse on Youtube...check it out!

UPDATE 3-21 Eruption is now paused. Long pauses are often followed by major changes in the eruption.

Just a quick update, still nothing major going on in Hawaii. Pu'U'O'o crater is slowly filling up again, and has a neat perched lava lake.

Keep in eye on the Pu'U'O'o webcam...I think something interesting is going to happen there soon, the crater floor and lava lake are bulging upwards.

The lava lake is still uplifting, and lava has started to flow over the western rim of the crater.
They have some new webcams:

The crater floor collapsed again! And I missed seeing it by a few hours again!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFgmLwf-3ug

It collapsed because of a new fissure on the flank of Pu'U'O'o....

The crater has filled up already and has been overflowing. There is some danger to Kalpana Gardens again if the eastern flow continues
Here's a link to the webcam on the east side

After dodging the lava flows for over 30 years, the last occupied home in the Royal Gardens has finally succumbed to the lava....
