You have done nothing to alleviate my fear of flying You mean...if I post a bunch of car wreck photos you'll give up driving? Then I can maybe have your just-paid-for auto at a real cheap price? I'm on it CJ......! -------------------- The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You've just got to find the ones worth suffering for. ~Bob Marley |

I'm still not a fan of being up in the air........ I know... a way to overcome a natural aversion to it. Some never do but nothing wrong with that...there's other ways to get where you're going... -------------------- The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. The Santa Ana Mountains are a (north-south) coastal mountain range that separate my valley from the coast and is mostly comprised of: Cleveland National Forest, San Mateo Canyon Wilderness, and Camp Pendleton.
Because of this, the range remains very unspoiled as there is either very little or no development in the range. Only one road runs through the range (east-west) from Lake Elsinore in my valley to San Juan Capistrano at the other side, this road is known as the Ortega Highway (State Route 74) and it twists and turns through the mountain range for roughly 25-30 miles. It stays entirely within the Cleveland National Forest boundary; there are no roads at all through the San Mateo Canyon Wilderness area, and only restricted access through Marine Corps base Camp Pendleton. These pics are mostly along/near that highway and are why I love it so much. None of the pictures are mine, however.

I'll post some of the Ortega Highway on the El Cariso Grade here soon, which is the highway climbing up the mountains from the valley floor here in Lake Elsinore up to a summit of 2666 ft (which isn't that high, actually). -------------------- Temecula Seasonal Precipitation 2012-2013: 7.27" (-6.34") Normal to-date precipitation: 13.61" East Murrieta Seasonal Precipitation 2012-2013: 7.11" Season began July 1st, 2012.
