A nice warm up on its way to California with some of the warmest air this year thus far! Based on the latest model projections 850MB temps look to hit around 20C for SoCal and about 15C next weekend and may even rise to higher than that beyond the period but we shall have to wait and see beyond that point in time. Stay tuned....

We're only looking at low 80s here, which isn't that warm at all for this time of year....March 31st gave us 92F. But this is likely to change as we go further, we'll see!

Record highs this time of year average right around 100F. May have an outside shot of approaching the record of 95 next Sunday if the forecast warms up like I think it might, but otherwise don't expect anything too impressive. Just your typical California sunny weather.

So I've noticed....the last time California threads were this inactive was last September-October Based on the 00z GFS and ECMWF...it does not look like any Southern California threads will get too interesting anytime soon. The ECMWF indicates the potential for some light rain on Monday (but nothing too significant). Otherwise...it looks rather benign the next couple of weeks except for the potential for some gusty northerly winds this week. |

Should be lovely for the Poppy Festival this weekend. Haven't decided if I'm going this year or not. Last year we went for a hike at Devil's Punchbowl instead. |

66F and Partly Cloudy. Some marine layer clouds made their way in around 8am and burned off before noon, but that's pretty much it

That marine layer pushed over the hills into the deserts this morning. Felt like I was down in Santa Monica this morning.

It's getting rather breezy out there... Northerly winds have rapidly kicked up and are now gusting to 25mph. The humidity also plummeted by 42% to just 36% due to how dry the winds are.

Although quite hazy, it is a spectacularly beautiful sunny day today. It was rather cold overnight, dropping us down to 42F, but not enough to break the 2001 record low (40F) for this date. Forecast calls for a balmy high of 75F today, and then 85F the next two days.

Hmm... interestingly we reached our high of 71F here in Santa Monica around 4pm in the midst of moderate onshore flow. The humidity is quite low though (38%) so that probably explains why we havent cooled down much. Looking at another possibility of some northerly winds tonight.

Northerly winds are a blessing for coastal areas of LA. The wind just shifted to the NNW and the temperature shot up to 75F
