Ohio has plenty of big bucks. I don't have a trail cam and currently don't live where I hunt. I hate duck therefore I do not hunt duck.

I have always heard good things about Ohio hunting. I wasn't aware you could only use shotgun though. I have never experienced that but I bet that imposes a huge challenge compare to using a rifle and dropping them at 200 yards compare to maybe 50??? My trail cam isn't much of anything special just one of those cheap ones but I still find it very very fun to upload the pics off the camera and see what has been by! I'm glad I got the ability to check mine every 2 weeks or so because I would probably go a little crazy. |

Went squirrel/rabbit hunting 2 weekends ago with my Remington 597 AAC-SD. Didn't see anything all day so we went plinking. About 2 mags through, the trigger freezes up. Long of the short, I'm shipping ANOTHER gun back to remington.

Never did see another buck after opening day.

Forgot to post that I got my 597 back from the factory. Turns out there was a piece of brass in the trigger housing. An easy fix.

Thoroughly depressing morning.
Struck up a hot bird at 6. A whole hour this bird was going non stop, drifting back and forth at 150-175 yards to my calls every 15 mins or so. At 7 he went silent. I waited about 20 mins and starting some soft yelping and he gobbled again and I could tell he was on the move down the ridge away from me. I let him go another 15 mins and started a series of cutting and he thundered now to my left, inside 100 yards. I went silent and he started going crazy. 75 yds, 50 yrds and at 35ish yds he popped out onto the trail. Lined him up and let the 20 guage scream. Bird did a barrel roll and I did a fist pump. Then to my shock and dis-spare the bird got up, took 3-4 strides and took off. WTF So now I sit here, looking at 12 guage ultra mags because if that happens again, the 20 guage would be wrapped around a tree.
