Looks like a chance of thunderstorms the next couple of days with heavy rain possible. Woke up to heavy rain this morning at 6am. The majority of the heavy rain missed me to the south though. Philly got 1.24" this morning already. While I got a whopping 0.15 in.

Here is was another day of watching storms pass to the south of me. As usual. Nothing in the forecast for the rest of the evening, and the radar looks clear.
Hoping it doesn't storm tomorrow evening, as my buddy wants to get his dirt modified racecar out on the track, and if it storms it ain't good racing weather. It probably won't anyways though, we never really get thunderstorms here anymore. At least not this year with this weather pattern. As for Saturday and Sunday, well, let it storm. |

Hmmm wondering if that little line of storms developing just south of Syracuse will stay together into my area. It's about 120 miles or so. If so, they are headed pretty much eastward, on a direct course into the area. Some of the storms that formed south of me earlier made it well into Mass. Hoping to see a little nighttime lightning, but knowing this area I am not all that hopeful *LOL*

storm to my west may take awhile to get here, near annville moving east at 10mph. Also thunder starting down in Philly can hear it on the broadcast of the Phils game.

Don't know if anyone else caught the storm that just passed thru baltimore but it had some impressive structure. I will post some pics I took from my phone later.

Line of storms off to the west seem to be developing into more of a line structure, which if it holds together will almost certainly impact the area. The big question is, can it make it the last 70 miles or so? If so, we could finally see a storm. That is assuming this line actually contains lightning and thunder. With my luck it will turn out to be a typical heavy rain, although CAPE is pretty respectable and I believe that helps with lightning potential.

ugh, storm looked so good until it got close to my location then it went to nothing, only 0.06 in. Man, last time I looked at the radar it looked like your area was gonna get slammed. Sorry to hear it didn't amount to anything. I'm fearing the same for the line of storms I am watching. Although you never know, I didn't think there would be a line of storms for me to be watching, and one developed. Now, it just has to make it about 60 more miles. |

Line to the west looks very pathetic now, and is turning a bit to the north at any rate. So, any surviving precip should pass well to the north of me anyways.
I knew it looked too good to be true. It's summer 2011, it's impossible to get a thunderstorm around here. Rain, no problem. But anything exciting, and it's sure to miss me. Of course, I will be proven wrong tomorrow evening due to the desire to attend the dirt track race I mentioned earlier in the thread. We will probably get hit by training cells with heavy rain. |

Looks like the folks to the south in dutchess county, ny had a severe thunderstorm that wasn't *LOL*
QUOTE .NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM FRIDAY MORNING/...

And I look at the radar again, and one of the cells to the west seems to be intensifying again, and changing direction a bit. It's going to be hard to call this one until it is right overhead (or has actually died out). I might not get to find out, because it's almost bedtime. And unless it turns into a monster severe storm, I will likely sleep through it.
Weather channel says mostly clear through 4AM, but they seem to be wrong more often than not. |
