If I did not include the city that is closest to you, please post where you are, and when you think that your city will get its first snowfall.

First snowfall over 0.10&#?... What does that mean?... If you could include Toronto, that would be great.

South-central Maine...I think I'll see first flakes in the sky in early November, and first trace (0.10+) around Thanksgiving. This assumes that my forecast of a warm and dry November is correct... if everyone else is correct about a colder fall, then more like mid-October for flakes and early November for the trace of snow.
First snows in the past few years: 2008: Early December 2009: Mid-October 2010: Late November 2011: ???? -------------------- Average snowfall: 81 inches

I'll take a guess and say that the first 0.10"+ snowfall for Toronto, Ontario, Canada will be within the first 2 weeks of November.

Paducah, Ky.
--Dec. 9-10 I'm predicting an early major winter storm to hit St. Louis through the OV to the Mid-Atlantic. Paducah will get in on a wintry mix ending as snow. And I have absolutely no meteorological basis for this prediction. And if I'm right I'll make sure to remind everyone. |

Last year and the year before I think we had a few threads about the first "snowstorm" I think and I predicted it accurately on that exact day. La Nina's start earlier than Nino's. Not here... La Ninas usually take forever to get going (last year was a case in point) but once they get going they keep going into spring. El Ninos here start with a bang before fizzing into a weak winter and early Spring (2009-2010 was a case in point). -------------------- Average snowfall: 81 inches
2007-2008 snowfall: 102 inches 2008-2009 snowfall: 71 inches 2009-2010 snowfall: 47 inches 2010-2011 snowfall: 99.5 inches 2011-2012 snowfall: 58.5 inches 2012-2013 snowfall so far: 78 inches Coldest temp of 2012-2013 winter so far: -8 F Winter 2012/2013: First frost: September 20 First freeze: October 8 First snowflakes in sky: November 8 First measurable snow: November 8 (2 inches) Total snowfall 2012-2013 season: October: None November: 2 inches December: 20 inches January: 12 inches February: 42 inches March: 2 inches |

In 2000-01, the Nina got off to a good start in December with my area getting 15" for that month, and a total of 43.8" for the entire season. |
