Bought some BAC today @ 6.37.........ain't this fun!! Now pick your high price in which you want to sell it. I'm gonna be watching it, too. Bought some BAC today @ 6.37.........ain't this fun!! So did I! With the million dollars of fake money I have to invest for the cnbc portfolio challenge... Shame I don't really have a million dollars to invest If you want another bank pick take a gander at STD. Similar price to BAC but with a lot less risk and (I think) better upside. One thing to note about stocks such as BAC. Institutional holders have to sell at $5.00. That makes for some interesting trading when it gets towards that range. So if BAC were to drop below $6.00 or into the $5.50 range I'd be on the lookout for some very rapid flucutations. Could present a prime opportunity for buying, or it could also signal the collapse of BAC... -------------------- ChsChargers09 - Please be aware that there is a significant chance I was being sarcastic in the above comment. Thank you.

I wouldn't have bought BAC at $6 even though I honestly believed it was on it's way up. The company was still being toyed with by the gov and working with a horrific balance sheet. It was obviously oversold but there was also a non-zero chance that it was going to collapse. BAC dropped 18% in the span of about an hour on a day in early august. It went from roughly 9.00 down to 7.40 before you could blink. It was unexpected, drastic and reeked of something being not-quite-right. If you had bought it at 8.50 with the plan of "don't let it get down to 8.25" you'd have been burned big-time. Unless you have the luxury of being able to trade stocks all day or if you're playing with options and stops. Something that volatile that moves seemingly without purpose and doesn't really have anything going for it other than that it appears to be undervalued just doesn't strike me as a good buy. I wish you luck with it though. As you obviously know it comes down to picking a time-scale, a desired return and determining the likelihood of that return. Bl1zz, you wouldn't buy it at $6, but you bought it higher???? -------------------- Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. This is all just a game to me, something to do at work as I can access my Vanguard account here, my 401k is in fixed income paying around 3%, that I don't play with, Roth IRA is for playing, and a new cash account for the house money will be safe in some Vanguard fund (till I spend it on a new pontoon boat, car and TOYS).....

Wish we still had a 'safe haven' for our 401k here. They took it away about a year ago, too many people were 'playing' and actually making money then retiring, I don't think the higher-ups liked it. -------------------- Snowfall 2007-2008 season-11.4 inches

I'm not going to lie here, bought Noble Energy a few days ago (just before the crash) down 9 a share already..... I think everyone should thank me for buying into oil stocks, clearly this has triggered the drop in gas prices!! -------------------- " it don't get no better than this "

What site do you use to buy yours? Etrade is the major one I've heard about. I have watched stocks but never really put any money into them. I thought of investing a little bit just so I can learn more about it but not 100% sure where to start.

Sold NBL today, this stock picking is NERVE racking..... The hardest part for me was getting over the desire to kick myself when I sold something thinking it was at the peak but then it went up a little more and likewise buying something at what I thought was the bottom only to see it fall a little more -------------------- ChsChargers09 - Please be aware that there is a significant chance I was being sarcastic in the above comment.
