I'm right on the weight requirement line. He wants me to lose 10lbs so I am guaranteed to meet requirements at MEPS.

What is MEPS? And what's your weight right now. While I'm in the most "military-related" thread... I've been reading this book called American Sniper. It's written by Chris Kyle, a SEAL sniper about his deployments/life. Its a REALLY good book. Definitely recommend it for anyone interested in military things.

Think it stands for Military Entry Processing Station....where they perform a physical and you take your ASVAB.

I am 5'8 180 which is on the dot for the maximum weight for my height.

I talked to a Major in the National Guard today. Looks like you might have a brother in arms.

Does anybody have some good websites for arithmetic and math skills? Not only a site that just gives you problems, but one that helps correct your mistakes.

Keep it up! I ended up fasting the week before i went to boot camp to make weight, but when I ate one meal before arriving, that put me 2 pounds over the required weight in boot camp. I found out at that time that your weight going into boot camp doesn't matter as much as your weight leaving boot camp and unless you are already in great shape, you shopuld lose plenty of weight while you are there.

Really what matters more is how many pushups and situps you can do and your running speed. As long as you can meet the minimum requirements for that and just listen and follow directions (no matter how reidiculous they sound), you shouldn't have any problems in boot camp.

Thanks for the advice.

I am now 174 and have completed the majority of the paperwork...I hope.

My ASVAB is Monday.

Still waiting on my doctors to provide documentation of a previous seasonal allergy drug I was on, and have since dropped. Also need documentation of my allergic reaction to penicillin.

Took the test today and from what I gather I scored really well!

AFQT 81

M 94
A 71
G 88
E 86

If I am reading the scores right I am available for any job the AF offers.

Thanks!

Recruiter wanted me to be a Linguist. I lol'd.

Then he said Broadcasting and hyped it up a good deal...which didn't make me lol but I did raise my eyebrow on why he was so high on it.

Any info on this?

The military has a shortage of linguists. The husband of a friend is a linguist and is currently on his 9th deployment.

If you are still into being a pilot, I know that in the Army you can go in enlisted, work your way up, and then try for a CWO position. Warrant Officers are badass. They also fly helo's. We knew lots of CWO's when we were in Germany because my ex-husband's unit had Apaches and Kiowas.

If you haven't read on the military.com forums, there are periods in which recruiters try to sell certain MOS's as that's what is pushed from command. Probably the case here...as to why...who knows. It's the military after all. wink.gif

I'm on that site all the time. It's great for doing research.

Ugh. My medical has hit a snag. MEPS doctors have PDQ'd me for my allergy to Penicillin (rash).

Recruiter says this is normal and that my file will get passed up the chain of command and should come back a-okay in a couple weeks.

So more waiting is in store...

Nope. I believe the Surgeon General has to okay it.

So I'm sure I am not a priority.

So much trouble for a simple rash.

Sounds like pending I pass my MEPS physical, I am "in".

Just received a call from the recruiter and I am to meet him tomorrow.
