hi guys,
I was wondering if there was a certain amount of millibars that it starts raining at ?
I have a little weather station that measures millibars., and it has a graphic of raining clouds
when it thinks it is going to rain.

Is there a certain number that rain will start ?
such as 937 millibars ?

thanks,

Lol 937mb would be a huge huge storm. I don't know the answer to this but I know it can rain even at 1016mb biggrin.gif

There is no defined pressure at which precip will occur. You could be under a 1040mb high and still have spotty showers if other factors are present.

It depends on a whole textbook of different things. You might want to start with Basic Met 101

BTW...

A pressure of 937mbs (MSLP), is the equivalent to a Cat 4 Hurricane.
