So much for accurately predicting volcano eruptions and the occurence of earthquakes. We know they are going to happen - we just haven't figured out when.. -------------------- Never too old to have a happy childhood! .......... ..........![]() Don't put an age limit on your dreams! |

So much for accurately predicting volcano eruptions and the occurence of earthquakes. We know they are going to happen - we just haven't figured out when.. That would require highly advanced remote sensing capabilities so that we can observe more precisely what is going on down there. Perhaps in 20 years. The atmosphere's weather is probably more complex and difficult to predict, but is much easier to gather data. This post has been edited by Sagebrusher: Nov 27 2012, 12:50 AM |

The atmosphere's weather is probably more complex and difficult to predict, but is much easier to gather data. We can measure and calculate air densities and content easily and cheaply when compared to measureing ground densities and content between the surface and the mantle, as well as the movement of the tectonic plates. The one thing that 'should' make ground measurements 'easier' is that the ground does not move around like air currents do and therefore measurments for a particular area should remain relatively stable over a long period of time. -------------------- Never too old to have a happy childhood! .......... ..........![]() Don't put an age limit on your dreams! |
