 Warmer waters? |

Iv read recently that the waters in the Atlantic are warmer than they usually are this time of year. Since we are approaching spring I figure the temps cant go down much more. Does that mean warmer temps that average come August and September for hurricanes or will they just level out?

I was just looking at the Water temps and was going to find a thread to post this in.
Is it Normal to have water in the 70s off North Carolina end of March?

 It looks like most of the atlantic is about average, the only major exceptions seem to be the gulf, which is 1-1.5 degrees above normal and just off the east coast from North Carolina to New England which is 2.0-5.0 degrees above normal. other than that rest of the atlantic is at about normal and only slightly above (.5 degrees or less) eastern pacific shows higher sst's as well...signs of el nino which arent good for tropical cyclone development in the atlantic. even if the atlantic is warmer shear could be a problem for a lot of the season. |

Ah... Shear is predicted to be high for the season? I already see it starting to drop a bit over west Africa.. look at the top right corner of the Atlantic.. that Is a bit over average..
