6z GFS precip through hour 192, for what it's worth. Not too bad looking, although almost all of the rain comes from scattered shower/thunderstorm activity, so some places will see higher amounts while others will barely see rain over the next week.

Looks like the next 5 days should help out the NE....not so much the Mid Atl
http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/qpf/p120i00.gif Besides last weeks widespread rain, I think its been a while since the Mid Atl has been in the bullseye. Either western PA ,NY get it or VA and NC do |

Hopefully it is not a repeat of last year. I was under water restrictions for quite awhile. Even though I was bummed the hurricane took down 3 of my trees, it vastly improved the drought situation. Fortunately the rain last week and the thundershowers today and tomorrow will help a bit.

With today's storm and the next week rain, it's becoming safe to say goodbye to any long-term drought potential. That doesn't say that more of a short term drought won't persist in parts of the region, however.

Still in a moderate drought but thats better then a severe drought any day. Hopefully with the rain in the early part of the week we can get into the abnormally dry levels. -------------------- Severe Weather Safety
