Rain is still forecasted for much of next week. If the Monsoons put out like they did last year I'll be elated.

Still some pockets of snow left in the foothills, but those should be all melted by tomorrow.

Rain has disappeared from the NWS Forecast Discussions for next week, although cool weather will still be present for a couple days next week at least. Meanwhile, most of the snow below 7000 feet melted today, and anything else will be gone by the end of the week due to the heat.

Rain is still in the picture next week, But timing and placement is very much in question..Could be very little, Or it could be a good event. Gonna have to just follow it and see how things trend.

Had a toasty high of 96F today, exactly 5 degrees higher than the forecast. By far the hottest day so far this year.

There's still some patches of snow on the Tehachapi foothills around 4000ft. My guess is that the 60mph winds during the storm blew that snow into some pretty big snow drifts. It was over 80F in the area (75F in the foothills) so its not like it wasn't warm enough to melt snow.

Fair skies and slightly less warm today as a low pressure system passes to the north.
NWS forecast discussions do mention some cooling next week, but no rain is mentioned at all - only dry SW flow instead. -------------------- Temecula Seasonal Precipitation 2012-2013: 7.27" (-6.34") Normal to-date precipitation: 13.61" East Murrieta Seasonal Precipitation 2012-2013: 7.11" Season began July 1st, 2012. Rain is officially out of the forecast for next week as that low won't get any closer than 130W, according to the NWS and computer models. The cooling won't be impressive either, with it now predicted to be a lot milder than previously forecast - only down to balmy mid-70s for the valleys next week. The coasts will be seeing more of a persistent marine layer next week.

It was 97 F in Phoenix today, where I was for a business trip for the last few days. On the flight back this afternoon I saw all the snow on Mt. San Jacinto and it looked spectacular.
It was actually only 65 F in Phoenix last Saturday when it was freezing cold (at least by CA wimp standards) over here in SoCal. This post has been edited by Jet Developer: Apr 19 2012, 12:31 AM |

Darn was hoping for one last rain event before the summer kicked off. Thanks for the update Beck! You're welcome! On a side note - it seems that most of the California posters are losing interest again as the 2011-12 rainy season draws to a disappointing end. This thread was very inactive today and yesterday for the first time since last October. It'll probably be a while (October or beyond) until we see a consistent flow in activity here again. Also, rain is still possible in May, though not probable. Here are past May precipitation totals for Temecula (since 2001): CODE May 2001 - 0.07"
May 2002 - 0.00" May 2003 - 0.42" May 2004 - 0.00" May 2005 - 0.30" May 2006 - 0.31" May 2007 - 0.00" May 2008 - 1.20" May 2009 - 0.00" May 2010 - 0.00" May 2011 - 0.40" -------------------- Temecula Seasonal Precipitation 2012-2013: 7.27" (-6.34") Normal to-date precipitation: 13.61" East Murrieta Seasonal Precipitation 2012-2013: 7.11" Season began July 1st, 2012.
