About 1.75" in the gauge so far here in west-central ME, still another 1 to 1.25 in the forecast and some heavy bands heading this way.
The rain has been gentle and steady enough for good absorbtion into the soil, with very little runoff...stream in the backyard is flowing for the first time in weeks and the garden is finally not bone dry (BTW, peas, lettuce, radishes, beets, chard, broccoli, shallots, and arugula are a month ahead of last year!). The tradeoff is that temps dipped to 33.1 F last night and yet to break 40 today. "Seasonable" sure feels chilly after those two warm spells. |
