So basically its over? Alright, see you next year. Hey there, we're back. Welcome to the new year. Looks like an ok start. Upton. QUOTE THE MAIN CONCERN IN THIS TIME PERIOD WILL BE THE EXTENT OF THE COOLER TEMPERATURES. EXPECTING BELOW NORMAL TEMPS BEGINNING TONIGHT WITH 850MB TEMPS DROPPING DOWN TO AROUND -10 DEGREES CELSIUS. INCREASING WINDS WITH THE APPROACH OF AND FOLLOWING FRI MORNINGS COLD FRONT WILL PRODUCE WIND CHILL TEMPS RANGING FROM THE SINGLE DIGITS TO THE TEENS...GRADUALLY INCREASING INTO THE 20S FRI AFTERNOON.. Nothing impressive and considering I woke up to upper 30s this morning plus the fact that BDR lows have been above normal for 17 straight days, its going to take a lot to impress me with temps. More than just a couple days below normal. 22 of the last 24 nights have been above normal here. But we did manage to break a daily snowfall record. Shortly after midnight, we reached the single digits for the first time since last Jan. 22--346 days. This was the longest stretch without single digit temperatures in Binghamton since Feb. 22, 2001 to Feb. 5, 2002: 348 days. I will enjoy the next few days of snowpack before the warmup and the GLCs wash our snow away.

BTV: Vermont Discussion
QUOTE "AS OF 345 PM EST WEDNESDAY...SKIES ARE ALREADY BEGINNING TO CLEAR AWAY FROM THE LAKE THIS EVENING...AND CLEARING SKIES OVERNIGHT WILL ALLOW TEMPS TO DROP FAST AND FAR. WINDS WILL ALSO WEAKEN AS SURFACE HIGH SETTLES OVER THE NORTH COUNTRY. WITH ARCTIC AIR MASS IN PLACE OVER SNOW PACK EXPECT THE COLDEST NIGHT OF THE SEASON THUS FAR. EXPECT AN OVERNIGHT LOW AROUND -9F AT BTV...AND DOWN TO THE NEGATIVE LOW 20S AT SARANAC LAKE WHICH WILL LIKELY BE OUR COLDEST SPOT. THE COLD TEMPERATURES OVER LAKE CHAMPLAIN MAY PRODUCE SOME INSTABILITY BASED LAKE CLOUDS AND VERY LIGHT FLURRY ACTIVITY WHICH ARE INCLUDED IN THE FORECAST OVERNIGHT." -------------------- Snow Totals Per Season:

Stuck at 29 degrees here, KALB is at a frigid 3 degrees. As LoveNYCsnow noted, this is mostly for the northern regions, as the cold spell is much weaker than originally expected further south; highs were originally expected to be in the 20s for NYC with lows in the 10s for almost all of the NYC area.

-13°F at KGFL. I imagine I'm a few degrees colder, but I will never know. I finally convinced myself that yes, I really wanted to open the kitchen window so I could hit the lone thermometer with a flashlight long enough to read it, but promptly slammed that sucker shut when I saw a spider hanging from the bottom.

Finally an impressive Cold shot this winter. The whole month of December didnt get more than 5 below normal for the lows or highs (for BDR). Nice to get it in January since the lows are lower.
I'll post some stats later on. Waiting for the 6am OBS update from the Stations around. I'm at 15.8 now. -------------------- Snow Totals Per Season:

Current temps.
Teens made it to the CT coast but Long Island is in the mid 20s as well as NYC. Single digits made it to Northern Westchester in southern NY and interior CT including Danbury in SWCT Below zero readings are common north of I-90. I dropped to 13.7 now which is the low. Winds increased to 10mph gusts which makes the wind chill in single digits. This post has been edited by NorEaster07: Jan 3 2013, 07:18 AM -------------------- Snow Totals Per Season:
