Yeah, those are the ones I go to as well. Great for hurricanes, and tropical weather.

I use this link to view the models: http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/
If you click on that link, it will take you to a page with the GFS, NAM, and other models on it. Just click on the model you want to view, and then click the hours you want to see. It's pretty simple actually after the first time or two. Kyle Elliott Junior Meteorologist E-Mail: kyleae@earthlink.net |

Where could I go to find the dgex model? jma? euro? i use weather.cod.edu for the gfs, but can't find any others. I am only 16, and an aspiring meteorologist, but I don't have an account here at accuweather, Is there anyone who knows any free websites?

http://www.wxforecaster.com/ncep/java/all.html
Great for GFS (but only goes out to 168) and NAM, as well as comparing them. Also shows NAO. www.wunderground.com Has a variety of models. On the homepage click "model maps" http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/an...fs/00/fpc.shtml This will show 4-panel GFS. In the url, where /00/ is, you can change that to 00, 06, 12, 18 for the corresponding runs. http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/an...am/18/fpc.shtml This will show 4-panel charts for the NAM. Same thing as the GFS. http://www.wxcaster.com/models_text.htm This is for model extraction data, in text form. On the bottom, where KOMA is, you need to type in Airport codes. (Ex: EWR, ISP, TTN, which is Newark, Islip, Trenton) For dgex I use http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~gadomski/DGEXEAS...z/dgexloop.html There is also a number of models on there too. I'll let you know if I dig up any more. Here's the actual site, where the DGEX was from http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~gadomski/ewall.html -------------------- |

Here's what I use:
Meteostar GFS Viewer - Shows NCEP Data. The page is old and has been long abandon (some links don't work) but I like the viewer because it's simple. PSU e-Wall - PSU Models. Has everything, but I don't find myself using it too much. Great resource though. Univ. of Albany Models - I'm not really sure who to attribute this page to, but I'm guessing a student or professor at the Univ. of Albany SUNY. I love this page, especially the NAM vs. GFS viewer... great for comparing the models. Uses NCEP and PSU data and has MANY links to other resources. Great page. Current Status of NCEP Models - This page doesn't really show any models, but just shows the live status of NCEP models, so you can find out if a certain run is running late or whatever. MOS output - I'm really surprised no one talks about MOS. If you don't know, MOS is a point forecast for a location based on the models. (It stands for Model Output Stats if I'm correct.) Output is available for most major airport locations with most of the models. I like to use it to see temps and precip type. That's all I got. I use Wunderground, too, but their models run soooo sloooow. I also loved accuweather pro when I did a free trial... though I don't have the money to pay $25/month (or $250/yr) for it... that's just a little too pricey for a student like me. -------------------- Millersville Meteorology

I know we're technically talking about non-subscription sites here, but I wanted to take a moment to explain WHY you might want to subscribe to our Pro site... you can see all the benefits here but one that is relevant during the current season (winter) is that we have "simulated winter radar output" and snowfall totals from the NMM, DGEX, WRF and GFS, which means that you don't have to guess by looking at temperatures, upper level conditions, and precip. We also have state-level maps. Some examples are below.

WHERE IS THE COAMPS MODEL? I asked that two days ago when ww was quoting it. A few of us googled it and couldn't find it. Take it for what its worth It's probably on the PRO site. There is actually a model called the Accu-weather model on the PRO site too. |
