Observations from a old phart concerning gas prices.
I have been through the gas crises of the 70's, where supply at individual gas stations became limited and stations would put 10 gallon limits on purchases. States at the time enacted prodcedures that limited one's ability to buy gas to odd or even dated day depending on the last digit of you license plate (vanity plates were considered 'even' if my memory is correct). And for all theis aggrivation the going price was in the 60 to 80 cents per gallon range and price changes were on the order of 1 to 3 cents per gallon. If there was a 'news event' that would affect the supply chain, it would take several weeks to a month for that change to be reflected at the pump in a price change. Now the 'threat' of a problem deep in the supply chain will move the price 20-25 cents over night - with no actual change in the supply chain ever taking place. The supply/price of petroleum is not market driven today, but market maker driven, with the makers hoarding low cost supplies to be able to sell them at inflated prices after they have pumped enough fear into equation to drive prices up and make it worth their effort. It is all about money....nothing more and nothing less. -------------------- Never too old to have a happy childhood! .......... ..........![]() Don't put an age limit on your dreams! |
