Still too many. You don't need a different title for every set of 1000 posts. I kinda like the tornado scale, just add in the rest of the numbers and broaden it. I think my set up would work quite well. See i guess but it might give people... i guess you can say more ambition to post! It will get people posting more wanting to get higher to have that title. I dont know i just figured since we have been with the tornado scale for awhile some might want to change it up a bit. Also the winter is far more exciting and less dangerous than the tornado season! lol Just a thought: Flurry- 0-200 Snow Shower- 201-500 Snow Squall- 501-1000 Clipper- 1001-2000 Snowstorm- 2001-5000 Blizzard-5001-10000 Perfect Storm- 10001-20000 You-must-have-something-better-to-do - 20,000 + -------------------- Tylor

Thanks... so how do you like being a moderator? It's okay...I haven't had to mark posts invisible that much (missed the one huge off topic exchange in the MW threads since I became a mod). Here's another possible suggestion: 1-100 = Tropical Wave 100-500 = Tropical Depression 500-1000 = Tropical Storm 1000-5000 = Hurricane 5000-10000 = Major Hurricane 10000+ = Cat. 5 Superstorm If we need to limit it to five (because I think Jesse said we only had room in the sidebar for five levels), we could take out the "Tropical Wave" or "Cat. 5 Superstorm" categories. -------------------- |

50-499 = Tornado. 500 - 1999 = F5 Superstorm 2000-4999 = I post in Everything Else a lot more than in the weather threads. 5000 -9999 = I post almost exclusively in Everything Else. 10000+ = What on earth is "weather?" Wanna play the word association game? Anthony -------------------- |

Do we want people to post more just to get to a new level? I figure that the forums benefit more if people only post when they have something useful to say. I personally would prefer just about everyone would post half as much as they do. Jim is one of the exceptions. |

What if our star rating that's on our profile gets put on there as well. It could help show who is the more respected posters on the forums.

How is there bias? For example, when jdrenken became a moderator a couple of months ago, a few people bumped him down from 5 stars to 2 stars (he's now back up to 5). That's the first thing that comes to mind. -------------------- |

For example, when jdrenken became a moderator a couple of months ago, a few people bumped him down from 5 stars to 2 stars (he's now back up to 5). That's the first thing that comes to mind. And I'm only at 4 stars. A clearer example of this there couldn't be... I have a question though, for everyone pushing for changes in this system. Does it really matter if you have a specific rank or amount of stars? Number of posts isn't exactly a very good way to determine who's better, the two best posters here have somewhere right around or just under 2000 posts. I mean, does it really matter to you if you're a "super awesome incredible storm" or just a "blizzard"? What's the difference? A title? The simple number of posts seems like it should be enough. With the star thing, a couple months ago someone was going around lowering people's star rankings. I didn't care, many other people didn't either, but a few did and so too did the person who was doing it. It seems kinda silly to me to base self-worth or something on the total number of stars you have on a weather forum. That's just me though. |

Like 300 to become a tornado and 500 to be an F5. -------------------- NW Ohio's First Poster

I have no clue what 'real weather is' I have seen snow once in the past 15 years. I have seen hail twice in the past 15 years. I have seen one tornado, one storm with 90+ mph winds and one time where it rained more than 1 inch for one storm. -------------------- Nobody enjoys a red X. |

My weather is pretty boring here also. We almost exclusively get either rain, thunderstorms, flurries, or nothing. That gets old...
