Looks like we might finally get some more snow out here in Winnipeg
Forecast for Winnipeg 15-25cm from EC 15-30cm from TWN 10-12+inches from JohnDee It started snowing around 10ish tonight, had some sleet also Winds are to pick up tomorrow night with drifting and blowing I was in argument with a fellow from here in Manitoba about how I found there is not much snow out here compared to home in Sudbury, he stated we get lots of snow out here, but I said I doubt it. So I decided to check ouot EC website and find the snowfall norms for each area Winnipeg averages 110cm of snow a year Sudbury averages 276cm of snow a year I think the big differences is the snow don't melt here like it does back in Sudbury where thaws are more common. Yet i am still surprised at the big difference in snow totals. I knew Sudbury gets more but never thought it would be more them double.... It's been a dry winter so far out here with only about 15cm on the ground in Winnipeg, so I hope this weekends storm gives us winter lovers some white gold to have fun in Its 2:45am in the morning and snow/sleeting at the moment and really damp outside

Grass is peeking out all over here in Winnipeg, we got maybe a max of 4cm in some areas of the city but mostly 2cm. None of the forecasts from anywhere are showing snow for southern Manitoba for the next 2 weeks and when they do they go away as the day approaches. Brett's monthly long range looks dry also yet his seasonal forecast last month for winter showed above normal snow for here and now it looks like a flip flop in the precipitation forecast!!
Its been cold, though a touch warmer the past couple of days at -8 to 10c Maybe I am just use to the snow in Sudbury Last year the biggest snow we got was maybe 10cm(save the 22cm March 30th), the only good news is that the snow does not melt out here but still for a snowlover like me it's kinda depressing too say the least Do any of you see snow for Winnipeg this winter? |
