Hi All,
Just curious about something...EC and TWN are calling for temperatures on the 26-27th of May to be in the low 30°'s C. When I look at the GFS , it shows temps in the low-mid 20's, and MyForecast also shows this. Which models are EC and TWN using, and what do folks more knowledgeable than me have to say about next weekend's forecast? What are the chances of T-storms? I'm seeing a slight chance based on the convective and CAPE, but if it is going to be that hot with more humidity (maybe up to 80% on Sunday), is there a greater chance than what the early models are showing? I'm learning a lot about meteorology and forecasting from this forum, and I appreciate any guidance that those with more experience can provide.

EC has posted snow squall warnings in Ontario for areas from London-Middlesex up to the Bruce, over to Orilia, and across to Niagara. 2-4 CM, but higher amounts I suspect in some areas. Post your observations and pictures. Predictions?

Environment Canada's Special Weather Statement (non S. Ontario information deleted)
"Discussion of thunderstorm potential. Today..Scattered thunderstorms spreading over Southern Ontario from the west midday. There is the risk that some of these storms may Form a squall line and become severe with damaging winds large hail and heavy downpours. An isolated tornado is also possible. Tonight..Scattered thunderstorms over Southern Ontario. There is a risk of severe thunderstorms from London to Niagara including Lake Erie in the evening with damaging winds, hail and torrential downpours as the main threats. An isolated tornado is also possible early in the evening. Thunderstorms over southcentral and Eastern Ontario may approach severe limits due to torrential downpours and gusty winds." Post your observations. I'll upload any interesting pictures that I may take during the day. I'd be interested in seeing shots taken by other folks around the region. Stay safe!

Just west of London the rumbles of thunder have been continuous - literally - for the past 45 minutes. Severe thunderstorm watches have been issued and the sky is getting really dark to the NW. Looks like a great show is about to begin!

Large hail to 2 centimetres as well as strong wind gusts to 90 km/h are likely with these storms. Heavy rainfall is also likely. This is a warning that severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in these regions. Remember some severe thunderstorms produce tornadoes..Listen for updated warnings. Emergency management Ontario recommends taking cover immediately when threatening weather approaches. This is a warning that severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in these regions. Accuweather is calling for some serious snow squalls this Tueday and Wednesday, 1 -2 feet (30-60 cm):
http://www.accuweather.com/news-story.asp?...0&article=2 Comments? Forecasts? How does it look for the London region? The wind direction looks like it's lining up to potentially hit Kitchener/Waterloo and London like it did a couple of years ago. It would be nice, though not so nice for the commuters. |
