Just curious.....
If you had to pick and choose, would you rather have it 0 deg F and bright sunshine or 40 deg with rain, dreary grey skies and fog? Not that either would be fun but which would you rather have if you had to pick one?

I know its a lot cooler at the shore (especially in the afternoon) than inland in the spring, but what I've noticed is the 700 and even 850 mb temps don't change over the water and that there is a VERY STRONG LL temp inversion near the shore in this case.
So why are the temps the same up high but a lot cooler at the shore near the surface?

Does anyone have any data from this storm, particularly the 500mb charts as well as the surface maps? I've searched extensively for info about it but very little seems to be hard to come by.
Thanks

I recently was on Youtube and was watching a show on the BBC that suggests that 600 million yrs ago it got so cold that there was a global glaciation even down to the equator at sea level. How certain is it that this occurred? I'd like to hear everybody's opinion for or against this.

In your opinion, what are the chances of the next glacial period never coming due to man made global warming, despite the cycle happening several times over the past 1-2 million years?
Do you believe that MMGW will alter make us totally skip the next glacial? If I were betting in Vegas, I'd say there is an 80% chance of the next glacial coming just like the last. I believe that global warming is just a natural cycle, mainly because the upper atmosphere is not warming at all unlike the surface. What do you think? What are the odds of the next glacial cycle happening despite man made CO2 emissions in this interglacial? |
