With this recent snowstorm or any snow storm, we follow the GFS, NAM, or EURO to name a few. Could someone explain to me why are they different and sometimes very different in predicting snowfall or rainfall? Are there certain weather data one model uses that the other doesn't? If so, why or is that a dumb question? Maybe they all use the same weather data, but just have different formulas to figure it all out. If so, why wouldn't one model be more right after a time and they then discontinue using the other more incorrect models? It seems like every snowstorm we watch and compare all the models snowfall predictions as we get closer and closer to a storm. Then we do it all again on the next storm. You'd think after a time, some models would eventually win out and the others not be used anymore. Could someone help me understand?
Thanks

It seems to me his site is sure busy when snow storms are possible, but has been real quite in the summer months. Guess we all like "storms" and even for me this summer, it seems storms have been on the low side. Not sure, but I figure the number of tornado's in the US is way down too.
For me there isn't any rain in sight for the next 7 days and hardly a cloud as well, according to the forecasters. Anyone know a rain dance? lol

Any thoughts to the lack of tornados this year? It's good, but I wonder if any weather pattern changes coming to increass them the next couple months?
