Hi Everyone,

I'm not sure if there is a thread dedicated to this yet but I wanted to open a discussion. Below is a link to an article that in particular discusses 'computer code' from the CRU, University of East Anglia.

Working in the field of computers, data mining, coding and programming I'm certainly no stranger to how there can be a tendency to want (or need to?) modify the raw data to support a particular belief, or perhaps more directly alter the data for what are believed to be real-world scenarios.

Can someone with 'climate' knowledge in here present some specific scenarios that require 'any' data whatsoever to be modified or 'fudged' as the article mentions?

Disclaimer: While I certainly have my own position on the AGW topic, I am really trying to put on a nuetral hat for a bit to understand some of the decisions that are made when it comes to interpreting raw data as it's an interesting topic in and of itself. Thanks in advance.

  1. I believe humans impact their environment.
  2. I believe we should work to minimize such impact.
  3. I believe polluting our environment is bad.
  4. I believe that non-polluting energy sources are best. (do any truly exist?)
  5. I do not believe that recent global warming is caused primarily (or in any measurable way) by human activity.
  6. I do not believe that humanity is threatened by Co2 emissions.
  7. I believe that global population stabilization should be of more concern.

Am I a believer or denier?
