Since August 2011 drought conditions have set in Romania, particularly the South and East of the country.
Practically since the 16th of August only 14mm of rain fell in Bucharest with only 7mm during the month of September. As of today the 2nd of October there are 26 straight days without any precipitation.
In Galati in the east of the country since the 11th of August there hasn't been any recorded precipitation except for 2mm on the 2nd of September.
Graphs generated from: http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/glob...ur_90temp.shtml
In Bucharest the driest September months have occurred in the 1990-1993 period. The years 1992 and 1993 seem to match the current dry period.
In Galati the driest September has occurred in 1994 while the driest period August-September has occurred in 1990.
In terms of temperature, September has been well above average in Bucharest with an average temperature of 28C. Three days with 34C have been recorded.
This has been the highest average temperature in Bucharest since 1994 when an average of 29C has been recorded.

There is no rain in the forecast until at least Oct 9th so the drought will intensify. I will keep an update.
