Hello all, basic stupid question probably. Pardon me. Currently I look at the GFS, NAM, sometimes GEM, and Euro, prehaps HRW. I get the models here The Euro is from Wunderground where it is free and basic.

The question is where do I find what the precip type will be? My brother asked a good question which was "Why does it snow sometimes when it is 36 and rain sometimes when it is 33? I answered it has to do with the temperatures at different layers of the atmosphere, from basic reading I think these layers are 850mb and 500??? I may be wrong.

In a nutshell is there a basic guide that says. This MB = this height and also a guide that translates the numbers to precip type? My guess is this answer is on the site somewhere, pardon me for not finding it if it was. Thanks for any help.

Hello, hopefully this is in the right spot for this question. I have used wunderground for the ECMWF precip. However the last day I have noticed that after the first frame of time it doesn't show where and the amount of precip. Does anyone have a different website to use for the ECMWF that is free that shows precip and the amount? Thanks

Hello all, I am looking for a site that has the precip or QPF output of the ECMWF model. Hopefully I put this in the right area of the forum. I would like to compare it to the GFS QPF output. If there is not a page that has the euro, then can anyone direct me to a page for another models qpf output for long range (3-12 days out).

Also if there are pages that show the tracks of low pressure to compare it to the GFS that would be nice.

I use this page for the GFS models.

The goal is to have another computer model to compare precip amounts with the GFS. And I frequently read the two longer range models are the GFS and euro. Thanks for your help.

Edited for storm tracks of euro
