Thought the weather community may enjoy this:

The predictions from European computer models, which have 10 times the computing ability of the National Weather Service, have increasingly become more accurate than our models with the starkest example being Hurricane Sandy. NBC’s Al Roker reports.

Just curious, if you report a moderator's post, what happens?

Like, is it up to the other moderators? Do you have warn levels? Can you get in trouble? Or are you given free reign to do whatever you like? What keeps you in check? (Besides the BEEF with the moderator thread, which I don't think is quite enough).

I have no moderator posts to report, but I was just wondering what happens if..

GFS has been consistent with this storm, so I thought it was worthy of a topic.

Notice that it appears to be mostly rain for Chicago and Detroit (though Chicago appears to possibly have significant wraparound precip).

Let the frustration begin!

Can you imagine the Wolverine State as the Buckeye State? Strange, but true: global warming is pushing the growing range for the buckeye and other trees north, and, left unchecked, will make the buckeye more common in our state and other Upper Midwest states. We've got the ingenuity and the technology in place to tackle global warming. Join other Michiganders in saying "no" to out-of-control global warming, and "yes" to stopping the buckeye for Michigan!

Stop the Buckeye is a coalition of Michigan organizations working to bring global warming to state and national attention. They are using the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry to draw attention to the fact that the Buckeye is moving north into Michigan, and the Wolverine is disappearing from the state. Why? Because of global warming!

Help Save the Wolverine State by signing an online petition
I suppose this is helping the Buckeye state out as well, so it is win-win no matter who you are allied with.

I'd encourage you to read up at stopthebuckeye.org

I love surprises like this. Here I am, in the tri-state area of MI, IN, and OH... From what I heard, the track of the storm was to be to our south. The most we would get is flurries from it, and I didn't think too much about it.

To my pleasure, I came home from school on Friday and found us under a winter storm warning for 6-12" of snow. Not too bad I would say...

As Saturday wore on, the snow picked up in intensity, falling at around 1"-3" per hour rates. I heard a few rumbles of thunder.

According to local news stations, my county had the worst of the storm.

What was the storm total?
Fourteen Inches

Yup! And outside, there's a few nice 3 foot drifts. With wind beginning to pick up, blowing and drifting snow will be a problem through the evening.

Gotta love it! 14"! Yay!
