I've had my wireless VP2 for 3 years now and I've had to have the board (the piece that houses the connections and the solar panel) replaced twice because the unit would lose power at night (even with fresh batteries). The most recent replacement was within the past month.
Anyway, about that time, I had a period where my temperature and dew point were about 5 degrees warmer then it should have been based on surrounding stations. At the time that it first happened, it was a damp morning with a thick fog. But even after the fog burned off the temperature reading was higher than it should have been for several days. Things then later returned to normal but now it's happened again.
At 11 am on June 30, temps in southwestern PA are in the mid to upper 60s (65-69) but more importantly the dew points are generally 59-60. However, my station is reading a temp of 72 and a few point of 66. This jump in temperature started again yesterday evening. This has happened to me in the past as well (a year or more ago) and I can't remember if I did anything to fix it or it just corrected itself.
Anyone have ideas on what's causing it?
Also, if I remember correctly, the station is measuring the temp and humidity and calculating the dew point, correct? So if the temperature is wrong, so would be the humidity.

Here are links to wxqx graphs for the first time it occurred this month. Note the temperature graph June 14th: June 14, 2008
and when it returned to normal late on June 15th: June 15, 2008
There aren't charts available for June 30th yet.

I'm posting this question to see if anyone else has experienced this.
I have a wireless VP2 and it seems my barometer wanders/fades over time. The following link is to the QC data for my barometer over the past year. You will see that from roughly April-August the barometer was very good but then it started to take a dive south to it's present state of having a mean error of -2.5 mb.
QC data for the past 52 weeks

If you can't read the x-axis very well, this link shows the last 39 weeks and you can see in April when the barometer was good.
QC data for the past 39 weeks

I 'corrected' the barometer last Spring and it was good for a long while, but why would it drift like that? My temperature data is spot on as is my elevation.

Thanks for any feedback.

I'm having problems with my data logger which means data isn't being saved to the database (PC). However, data is being sent without problems to CWOP so I'm able to gather data from there and I wanted to manually add the records into the database so that my climotology could be maintained. However, I don't see an option to add records, only to edit or delete.
Am I missing something? Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Chris

I've had this happen before but never knew what the reason was.
I noticed this morning that when weatherlink was trying to download data from the weather station, it said something like "Downloading page 1 of 500". I let it try and complete but of course it would get to 499 and stop. I dug out some old information and here's what I tried:

1) put the console in Setup mode by holding the DONE and - key at the same time.
2) removed all power from the VP2 console by removing a battery and unplugging the AC power.
3) let it remain that way for several minutes, then reconnected the ac power (and heard the 3 beeps) followed by reinserting the battery

I had to repeat this several times before data would successfully download. Now I see it's having a download problem again. What could be causing that? Anyone else know of any other solutions?

Thanks,
Chris

I archive data every 5 minutes.

I'm having a problem trying to figure out what the heck is going on with my VP2. For about the past week, the console stops receiving (losses the connection) data from my VP2 at about 3:30 am. Then, anywhere between 7 am and 11 am the reception returns.
First, the station has been installed in in it's present location (including the console) for over a year and I've never seen this behaviour before the last week or so.
Second, saw a message on the console that the battery was low in station 2 (the station that I've setup to receive from). So, I bought a brand new cr123A lithium battery and installed in the other day, but the problem persists.
The fact that the console has lost the connection at about the same time each day for the past week leads me to believe it could be one of two things....
1) the capacitor (or whatever it is the solar energy recharges during the day) has lost it's charge and for some reason the battery backup isn't functioning
2) there is some kind of interference, but what the heck could it be? I haven't installed anything or purchased new equipment that transmits a radio signal, etc.

Any insight from anyone?

Thanks,
Chris
